Carite Wroughton Car Show at Amazon's The Grand Tour Studio and Eboladrome!

Living Local to Wroughton and the airfield all my life, I have always been very curious about what's been held there or getting in there to check it out...So when this opportunity to get on there with my own car came up- How Could I possibly say no?!

In the time since I was a wee lad aswell, it has become even more well known and internationally renounced as the location where Amazon filmed The Grand Tour with our favourite automotive trio at the helm.

You may know them from a formerly poky little motoring show that was once on TV called Top Gear!

As a Car Enthusiast with oil at my heart and petrol coursing round my veins, this second coming of the holy trio was the blessing we were all after when Top Gear left our screens and its amazing to think that it was just up the road from me that this was filmed.

I would say it definitely put Wroughton on the world stage for a period at the time, it also had that grass roots vibe we'd grown to love which slowly got squeezed out of Top Gear with how big it became over the years.

I met the group I was on stand with called National Karz at a semi-decent time of 8:30, and we took a nice detour round some country lanes to get there and enjoy the drive a bit. The excitement of the day is always palpable on these early morning drives.

As we arrived and setup, it was at and around the hangar closest to the road, You would recognise the front doors of the hangar where the hub of the action is from some of the early press shots of Jeremy, James and Richard posing in front as the splash screen on your Amazon Prime page before clicking watch!

Round the front was really the main area with the show and shine entrants - They also had out picnic benches, food stands a land rover DJ and Assetto Corsa on VR headsets which was fun!

At the time I left, I think I had a time of 1:55 round the Nürburgring GP track they had on which put me around 6th or 7th fastest of the day - The best part was, this was free!

A few other local groups turned up to display their cars aswell which ensured the variety on display was great and diverse, as word got around, more people were also turning up as the day progressed and since parking was pretty freely available the show area was essentially extended further to accommodate more cars turning up, so this selection grew further still as the day progressed.

All in All it was a great day and great first event for the Carite team and I would say a win for us car enthusiasts.

I think everyone ended the day optimistic that there may be a further event hosted there in the future and the airfield is more open to events of this nature too moving forward - I am definitely one of those hopeful and optimistic ones!
