1991 JZZ30 Toyota Soarer Single Turbo 1.5JZ Engine Conversion

Funny how things come back around!

Ironically, The person who built this car - Another Phil - Ran a youtube channel with a lot of "how-to" videos on taking this soarer apart - I used some of these videos back when I had my first soarer for reference and guidance!

Of course, the story has carried on in my ownership and it has since had new wheels, another turbo and Audi R8 Coil conversion and a further remap to 460bhp which I've been enjoying it reliably at for around 4 years now.

In time, I will document some of that progress on this page.

When I bought this, I had just Sold my Skyline and it was a toss up between This Soarer and my Friends black JZX110 Toyota Mark 2 - I also Still had the Driftworks JZX110 Toyota Mark 2 - so 3 cars at once pretty much and me in limbo about what direction I'm going.

With Regards to this Soarer, someone else was lined up to see it and buy it then bailed, so If they did buy it, I would have bought my friends black JZX110 Mark 2 - funny how small things can change your direction/life trjectory so dramatically!

When I turned up and saw the car in person, and the amount of love, attention and detail that had been poured into it - it was a no brainer.

Much like my first Volvo and the Skyline, it had a couple of folders full of history which is rare for a JDM import thats been heavily modified and it was built with a focus towards road use rather than track/drift use - which again, is rare for these.

As I spend most of my time driving country roads and doing long road trips in this car, it really has panned out and this is why I still have it to this day

This is pretty much the perfect fast road spec soarer - While I sometimes wouldnt mind a tad more power (not that 460BHP isn't enough!) - in terms of reliability and dependability - This has been fantastic. Its an absolute blast to drive too and makes all the right sounds you want from a big single turbo JZ, but also has enough luxuries and refinement for when you do want to kick back and chill.
